Patrols - What's involved?

Patrols are the foundation of surf lifesaving.

They begin on the last weekend in September and finish on ANZAC Day the following year.

The Club currently has 16 patrols which means each patrol being on duty around 10 times a season.  There are two patrols each day running from 9:00 am to 1:30 pm and 1:30 pm to 6:00 pm during daylight saving and 9:00 am to 1:00 pm and 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm during the rest of the season.

Patrols are led by a Patrol Captain and supported by their Vice Captain. Patrolling members are required to undergo skills maintenance (proficiency) for their relevant awards each year in order to remain as an active patrolling member covered by insurance during any one season.

You can be part of that by joining the Club and doing your Bronze Medallion.

Speak to one of the Surf Life Savers on the beach and they will get you started.

Nipper parents are particularly encouraged to do their Bronze Medallion.
