As you may be aware, the NSW Government has split our Branch into 2 sectors at the Narrabeen Bridge.
The northern sector will be beaches from Warriewood SLSC north to North Palm Beach SLSC. The southern sector will be beaches from North Narrabeen SLSC south to Manly LSC.
SLS Sydney Northern Beaches and Northern Beaches Council have come to the following arrangement which will apply for December 25, 26, 27 and 28 patrolling days:
No flags raised across the 21 beaches.
Northern sector to have Lifeguards in surveillance.
Southern sector to have NBC Lifeguards and Surf Club Patrollers in surveillance from the Club.
As we are an emergency service, Queenscliff will be providing a surveillance team only with a PC, ART, IRBD, IRBC to support the lifeguards. If you are rostered on over this period, please keep in contact with your Patrol Captains and Club Captains for details and how it may impact on you.
As a reminder:
- Queenscliff clubhouse and gym are still closed until future notice.
- All assessments and skill maintenance (proficiencies) are postponed.
- All training which includes surf boats, beach running and board training is cancelled until future notice.
Proficiencies will be rescheduled for the new year when we have more information. Members who require their awards by 31st December for competition purposes, will not be disadvantaged.
For those competitors who need to complete patrol hours, there will be an extension after 31st December 2020. The extension is anticipated to be only 1 to 2 weeks – SLSNSW have not yet provided exact details. If you are available over the Christmas weekend please contact the Club Captains before attending the surveillance patrols.
I would like to wish everyone and great Christmas and new year. Please give a thought to those who may be alone, reach out to them, even if it’s just a phone call.
I urge everyone to please be safe.
Please contact me should you have any queries or concerns.
